Sensex, Nifty close fresh record high; PNB gains by 5%

stock market up Nifty and Sensex ended trade on a positive note on Friday due to strong gains in Bank stocks. BSE Sensex closed higher by 112.34 points at 33,685.56, while the NSE Nifty50 rose 28.70 points to 10,452.50. Punjab National Bank led the banking sector by gaining about 5 percent.

In the other gainers, it includes SBI Bank, Tata Motors, L&T, ONGC and Indusland, whereas Sun Pharma, Power Grid, Coal India, BPCL, and GAIL lost sheen on NSE.

Bank stocks rose with SBI up 3.19%, Corporation Bank up 2.8%, Bank of Baroda rose 1.39%, Canara Bank rose 0.25%, Bank of India up 4.16% and Union Bank of India rose 1.43% rose while IDBI Bank and Andhra Bank down by 1.37% and 2.86% respectively.

A total of 111 stocks clocked a fresh 52-week high, while 14 stocks registred a new 52-week low on the NSE.
